Award-winning clown company Acá Theatre are a clowning company, who devise original Clown performances for families, based on current political themes. We use non-verbal physical comedy, slapstick and acrobatics that make the work accessible. Acá Theatre are an independent company made up of Nick Eastburn, Francisca Stangel, and Avi Simmons. We are passionate about providing people of all ages and abilities opportunities to experience togetherness, making them laugh together whilst inspiring change.
Our first family clown show ‘Better Together’ toured the UK in 2017-2019, won the SIT UP Audience Engagement Award, and was nominated for the Primary Times Children’s Choice Award, who called it ‘The best children’s show we have seen at the Edinburgh Fringe’. The 5-star show was shortlisted for IYAF Best of Brighton Comedy and Voice Best Newcomer 2017. Rated 5-stars by 90% of parents, we did relaxed versions at Brighton and Edinburgh 2018 and the Autism Arts Festival.
Pegasus Theatre Oxford invited us to be resident company for their SPARK artist programme in 2019, and in 2021, with the support from Worthing Theatres, Harrow Arts Centre, and Art Council England we developed We All Wobble, pioneering a new art form in England: the Human Weeble. We All Wobble toured nationally in 2021- 2023 to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
In 2026, Acá Theatre celebrates 10 years as a registered company and has begun working on their new show! The Clown and the Whale is a performance boat-loaded with fun for the whole family!
